Community 101
A program of the Oregon Community Foundation and the PGE Foundation
The mission of Community 101 is to provide students opportunities for service
and leadership through philanthropy and volunteering.
In an innovative collaboration among schools, businesses, and charitable
organizations, Community 101 students are given the tools to bring about
positive change in their communities.

OCF has established a three-year, seven region, 7 million dollar initiative to involve citizens in philanthropy in a new and significant way.

Early Childhood Initiatives
Under Oregon! Ready to Learn, OCF makes investments
totaling over $1 million per year in early childhood care and
education. Focusing
on early literacy, parent education, and child care quality and
professional development, the initiative includes grants to community-based
organizations, research, convening of forums, and scholarships for
study and training in early childhood education.

The Chalkboard Project
A partnership of independent non-partisan charitable
foundations working together (Foundations For A Better Oregon)
to strengthen Oregon’s K-12 public education system. Chalkboard
aims to help create a more informed and engaged public who
understands and addresses the tough choices and trade-offs required
to build strong schools.

Access to Higher Education
In 1998, OCF initiated ASPIRE, a one-on-one mentoring
program that helps students access education and training beyond high
school. ASPIRE currently serves nearly 7,000 students directly in 83 Oregon
high schools and involves over 1,000 community volunteers.

CASA Project
OCF and other Oregon foundations have initiated a
collaboration with the Oregon Commission on Children and Families to build
the capacity of local CASA organizations to raise funds, recruit more
volunteers, and advocate more effectively on behalf of abused and neglected
children.

Giving in Oregon
The Giving in Oregon Council was created by OCF to
represent different points of philanthropy. Estate planners, development
officers, private philanthropists, and volunteer associations
are represented. The report is issued annually to provide a
benchmark on the state of philanthropy in Oregon.

Gray Family Fund of The Oregon Community Foundation
The fund advisors of the Gray Family
Fund seek to fulfill John and Betty Gray’s faith in the human spirit.
The family acknowledges their responsibility to give back to the systems
that nurture all of us: our culture, our natural environments, and our
communities.
