How to Apply for a Community Grant
  Application deadlines are February 1 and August 1 each year, for board decisions in May and November. You may download the application form, or call OCF at 503-227-6846 or email info@ocf1.org.

Renewal applications follow the same process as new applications. See below.

Once an application has been received, a multi-stage review begins, which occurs over the course of about 14 weeks. Some applicants receive phone calls and/or site visits to aid this process.

Application Packet

Please submit two complete packets of the following information, assembled in the following order:

  • Completed and signed application summary on one sheet of paper, two-sided 
  • Detailed project narrative, no more than three pages in length (Click here for a description)
  • Detailed project budget showing both revenues and expenses (if grant request is for a multi-year project, please show the budget for each year)
  • Organization budget for the current year
  • Board of directors list
  • Organization's letter from the IRS granting 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status
  • Most recent audited financial statement, if available. Otherwise, include end-of-year financial statement for most recently completed fiscal year.
In addition, please submit the following:
  • Four copies of the application summary form
  • One copy of the project narrative
  • One copy of the project budget

Detailed Project Narrative

Project Description
  • Present a detailed project overview including activities, timetable, who and how many benefit from the project, and how it meets OCF's funding objectives.
  • Document a compelling need for the project.
  • Explain why the project is important for your organization and the community.
Qualifications
  • Explain why your organization is appropriate to conduct the project, including identification of key personnel, their qualifications, and their roles in the project.
  • Show how collaboration with others in your community, if applicable, will strengthen, extend, or otherwise be a factor in this project.
Results and Follow-Up
  • Describe expected outcomes of the project and why its activities are expected to achieve these outcomes.
  • Present plans for evaluating the effectiveness of the project.
  • Describe the future funding plan, if applicable, to sustain the project after the grant period.
